Ryk Brown is the author of the Frontiers Saga series. He currently works as a computer technician, and he has also worked as a cook, rock guitarist, stage lighting technician, and paramedic. Ryk lives in Northern California with his wife and daughter.
Jeffrey Kafer is an avid performer on the stage and in voice-overs. He has narrated over one hundred books spanning all genres, and he won the 2008 Voicey Award for Best New Voice.

One of the Best Installments of the Series

Before you start this book, please realize it is #12 in a series: if you haven't read the other books in the series in order, this one will make no sense to you.
Continuing the pace of the last novel, this significantly ramped up the action / battle scenes and less of the inner reflection by the main characters we saw in previous novels. Rather than being on the defensive, the Alliance forces take the battle to the Jung which was a welcome change of pace. Similar to other episodes in this series, I also appreciate how the advances in future technologies aren't described over your head, and you can get your arms around it and understand it.
As usual, there was yet another cliffhanger ending but the stage has been set for the Earthlings to punch it to the bad guys vs. being reactionary. Unlike other space operas that may have worn out their welcome after a few books, I'm ready for the next episode.
I picked this up for free using my one monthly borrow for being a Prime member vs. the regular price of $2.99: if you've enjoyed the series so far, you'll certainly get a heck of a lot more than $2.99 of entertainment value in this installment.

Space Battles Galore

Yes, we have lots of space action. I just finished the book and I would say that at least 50% of the total book has been great, exciting space battle action.
The story is moving right along. Our favorite characters are present: Nathan, Vlad, Cam, Jessica, Lt. Telles, Abby, Josh, Loki, and a few new ones just coming on board. The Jung are still showing just how bad they can be. We are seeing some of what is happening on Earth and Tanna as well as back with Prince Casimir and of course on the Aurora and Celestia.
This is still one of the very best space opera series to be found. Well done and worth the extra wait.

lots of action, new characters and a mystery

I liked at least 90% of the book. Usually I skim a book as it gets boring, this one held my attention throughout it. I sometimes wonder if Mr. Brown knows what a meter is. Two giant ships 50 meters apart and they are firing missiles at each other, hmmmm. At the end he lays out the mystery that one of the crew is a Jung spy. My opinion is that it is Jessica. The person searching for the spy is the spy. a good twist in the story. My reasons? She has survived numerous contacts with the Jung, has been missing for periods of time, her family all survived and last but not least, while she was not on the bridge during the last battle she was somewhere else on the ship with knowledge of what the Aurora was doing making it easy for her to send messages without being seen. My opinion, have I got it right? You tell me.
As time has gone by, his writing skills have improved. Read it, it is well your time if you are into sci-fi. and then tell us who is the spy.
