A new twist
By Corinne R. Coston
Ever since the Da Vinci Code brought treasure hunting back into popularity, there have been a plethora of novels in which the characters race around the world, chased by evil-doers, to find various artifacts that frequently contain magical powers or stunning new historical facts. Some manage to be entertaining, some don't. This one, based on the Delphi Oracle, adds a new interesting twist to the hunt and offers a studious, professorial heroine rather than a hairy chested swashbuckling pirate. I like that about this book. The history was also accessible and the descriptions of the various international locations was colorful and engaging.

A Review From Somebody Not A Friend Of The Author
By Mishka
I checked out this book on Prime due to the glowing reviews here. Should have known they were all too perfect in their praise for the book and this author. Obviously they are all friends or family or smoking something I don't have access to.
This book has all the earmarks of a self published work and although the author could benefit from professional editing I don't know if that would be enough to salvage this work. The characters are shallow, the plot undeveloped, transparent and predictable. For example, it was a no brainer to figure out the Guardian of the Peace (investigating police officer) was a shill for "The Order." And how about that name for the shadowy foe - real original, huh? And the character dialogue is just plain awkward and in many cases downright childish. All too often I felt like I was reading a paper written by a high school student - that's how bad the dialogue was. In short the writing just felt off.
All the other reviewers have gone out of their way to compare this author to Dan Brown. I can assure you Dan Brown will not be losing any sleep worrying about competition from this writer. If you like the kind of genre Dan Brown produces, then read Dan Brown, James Rollins, Raymond Khoury or Steve Berry. But by all means avoid this author like the plague unless you like childish dialogue, undeveloped plots and themes that are plagiarized from other popular books and movies.
This book is so bad in so many ways I simply cannot justify giving it more than one star.

Three points
By Tikorama
I have a lot to say about this book, but I'm going to stick with the biggies for me.
1. If you hate Christians/the Catholic church, this book won't annoy you. (and vice versa). There is a large body of people out there who fall into this category so you'll probably enjoy "priests" and "nuns" murdering to "protect the Church/Church's secrets". AKA Dan Brown all over again, but slightly less well done.
2. This story does not depict the majority of Christians. If the overarching theme of the bible is that God loves us and wants us to love Him and love others (and I believe it is), then this book does not even touch Christianity. So expect a skewed viewpoint.
3. The story (while slightly annoying due to points 1 and 2) is well written enough that I read the whole thing. I thought the ending was boring/too long and/or drawn out, and sometimes had trouble following the details of the story (Like in one scene, you never hear about the secretary until he gets shot--why in the world would he even BE in that scene???! It made no sense--plus I had no idea who he was since he had one minor (non-speaking) role mid-way through the book. But don't worry, he makes it.)
Overall, I was really disappointed.
