Review
"Americans are getting a finer sense of who we are at an important time in our history because of the quality of literature from writers with voices calibrated to sing out our zeitgeist. And this novel by the grandly-talented Chris Jane delivers the best kind of fiction - a story suffused with a brightness that shines truer than the truth." - James C. Moore, MSNBC commentator and author of The Rembrandt Bomb and co-author of the NYT-bestelling Bush's Brain: How Karl Rove Made George W. Bush Presidential

"In a style reminiscent of Kurt Vonnegut's surreal narratives, Pretty Much True is a story revelatory of a side of war that often is overlooked." - Lee Giguere, the Journal Inquirer

"Pretty Much True by Chris Jane, ultimately about life and how we choose to deal with loss and grief even when those we are mourning are still alive, is one of the most powerful and brilliant books I have read in a long time. It is an intimate and personal look into a soul bared raw for us all to see. Make this the next book you read." - Pop Culture Zoo

"There are many novels about war, but few are written from the point of view of a loved one back home waiting, not knowing if or how the soldier will return home. Perhaps that's because so few have found an interesting way to write such a story, but that has changed, thanks to Chris Jane. This is not a political book. Jane doesn't take sides on whether our previous president made the right decision. Instead, Pretty Much True shows what it's like to be paralyzed by fear, contrary to being strong for the country as an expected honorable sacrifice." - Carol Hoenig, The Huffington Post

Military wives/girlfriends or loved 1’s we leave behind
By Tony R. Parsons
What will happen to Mia Sharpe (narrator, former Professor, cab driver) & Jake (helicopter piolet, Iraq, military, William BMF) relationship?

What will happen with Denise &/or Chief Warrant Officer William H. White (Iraq, Army, husband)?

What will happen with Denise &/or Brian (military)?

What will happen with Dr. Gary Donald Donny Donaldson (Sergeant, Vietnam veteran, 82nd Airborne) life?
Since I am an Army Vietnam veteran this book brought back a lot of memories.

Military wives/girlfriends or loved 1’s we leave behind. Thank goodness I didn’t have any of that to deal with. I was in my 2nd semester of college & had just broken up with my H.S. fiancé. Hello Vietnam.

I won’t discuss what happens with the relationships of military PPL. In the real world I will say most though are quite predicable.

I did not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing this book. While I receive free books from publishers & authors, I am under no obligation to write a positive review. Only an honest one.

A very awesome book cover, great font & writing style. A fairly well written could be true-to-life book. It wasn’t always very easy for me to read/follow from start/finish, but never a dull moment. A few grammar/typo errors (pg. 219, 220), but no repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters to keep track of. This could also make another great military wives/G/F, partners, or lovers movie, or mini TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is a very easy rating of 5 stars.

Thank you for the free (Goodreads; PDF) book

Hard to Follow
By Lupine Smile
I received an electronic copy of this book by the author for an honest review. Mia, adjunct professor turned cab driver, has her world shaken up when her boyfriend Jake is called up to deploy. She ends up in a weird friendship with one of her fares, a Vietnam veteran named Donny. This book was all over the place for me, to be honest. I found it hard to follow and really did not get a feeling for the characters. I feel that the author was trying to show Mia's anxiety by telling her story in this manner, but it just was not successful for me.
